????Do you want to expose your students to graphing on a weekly basis?

Do you want to meet math standards for graphing?

Do you want to start up a weekly graphing center in your classroom?

Do you want an easy way to create a graph center in your classroom?

Did you answer yes to one or more of these questions?  What teacher wouldn’t??  This packet is your answer.  This packet will allow you to easily create a colorful and inviting hands-on graphing center in your classroom in minutes. Your students will enjoy the graphing exercises while you are confident they are gaining the graphing skills they need for life!

This packet of activities was written to match the following standards of education.

1.) Student interprets data by reading bar graphs and pictographs using whole unit data.

2.) Student reads and interprets charts, picture graphs and bar graphs as sources of information to identify main ideas, draw conclusions, and make predictions.

3.) Student answers questions about the number of objects represented in a picture graph, bar graph or table graph; e.g., category with most, how many more in a category compared to another, how many altogether in two categories.

How to use this packet:

This packet contains everything you need for a weekly graphing center for your classroom.  To begin, set up the center on Monday by printing out the center manipulatives and center banner on cardstock. You may choose to laminate the banner and manipulatives to use the following year. On Monday each student answers the question by putting a manipulative under their correct response.  When all students have selected their answer, the classroom graph is complete.  As a weekly center activity, invite the students to visit the classroom graph and complete the graphing center sheet that matches each center.  The graphing sheet is stored in the students center folder. Review the center sheets at the end of the week as a whole class activity.  Your students will be graphing experts by the end of the year!

Typical grade levels (1-3).First graders may need to do the graphing center sheet as a whole class activity due to the reading involved. Second and third graders should be able to complete the center sheets independently. Check out the free samples before you buy to see if this is a center you would like to have in your classroom!
