| Before reading, show the
students the cover and title of the book and discuss it. After reading, ask the students if the the title is appropriate. Can students think of another title for this book? List their ideas. *Opposites were used in
the story Reread
pages 28-29. Read page 63. Have students explain what Dr. Seuss meant when he wrote, "Every day, from here to there, funny things are everywhere." Have students identify the number words in the story. Have students make a book of number words and illustrate. Remember the Cat had eleven fingers. Create story problems using the items or characters from the book. Have students write about their favorite character from the book. Have them draw a picture of the character and explain why it was their favorite. Then make a list of the favorite characters and have your students graph the favorites of the class. *Something I do for math is do a venn diagram of red fish blue fish. I make some red fish and some blue fish, and then I make some fish that are red and blue.Then the students have to sort them into a venn diagram. - Andrea
